    Xact Data Discovery has an immediate opening for an experienced Forensic Examiner in the New York area.

     

    The Forensic Examiner works internally with senior-level forensic analysts, electronic discovery project managers and management personnel, and occasionally with external attorneys and corporate clients. Consistent adherence to forensic lab best practices and procedures and meticulous attention to detail is required. The Forensic Examiner will be responsible for maintaining the quality of client deliverables and supporting XDD’s sales efforts as required.  Must have or be willing to build a CV commensurate with a digital forensic expert.

    This position requires proficiency in digital computer forensics and a thorough understanding of electronic discovery.  The primary responsibilities of this position are to conduct digital forensic acquisitions and preservations, triage investigations, and basic reporting. Strong writing skills are required to provide detailed process reporting to XDD’s clients, courts, and government agencies.

    This position reports to the Director of Forensics.

    Responsibilities

    Include the following, though other duties may be assigned

    • Conduct computer forensic investigations and electronic discovery requests for legal and corporate clients, using forensically sound methodologies along with forensic software suites and a variety of trade-specific tools
    • Support project managers, clients and consultants by tracking and communicating the status of all assignments
    • Conduct onsite collections and provide written documentation in declaration or affidavit format to senior examiners when appropriate
    • Travel (percentage varies) and direct interaction with onsite clients

    Qualifications

    One or more Computer Forensic Certificates or license; preferred or similar:

    • CCE
    • CFCE
    • EnCE (EnCase)
    • ACE (AccessData)

    Competencies:

    • Knowledge and experience with the following operating systems:
      • Windows, macOS, or Linux
    • An understanding of:
      • information systems security, network architecture, physical server and desktop architecture, virtual infrastructure architecture, general database concept, and document management concepts
    • A firm understanding of electronic mail systems such as Exchange, GroupWise, Lotus Notes, and cloud-hosted service 
    • Experience with computer forensic tools such as EnCase, FTK, Oxygen, Cellebrite, and Axion/IEF
    • Able to manage multiple projects and maintain a computer forensics lab on a daily basis
    • Able to organize and assign project priorities, as you will be responsible for several simultaneous projects
    • Critical thinking, problem solving, and precise organization is vital for the efficient completion of tasks
